Emily Stockley is a musician, music teacher and movement teacher from Newfoundland, Canada. Her teaching philosophy is to cultivate lifelong curiosity in the things that move us by developing fundamental skills; a connection with self; and a sense of ownership of one’s areas of interest.
Emily has been a musician and a mover for all of her life, learning classical music from her musician mom, and hockey and other sports from her athlete dad at early ages. Music and movement blended for the first time when Emily was studying her Bachelor of Music. Years of being a high-octane athlete had left her physically tense, and her studio voice teacher recommended that she start practicing yoga. Today, Emily considers herself first and foremost a lifelong student of music and movement.
Emily’s music teachers and coaches have included Eleanor Cameron-Stockley (Twillingate, Newfoundland), Dr. Jane Leibel (St. John’s, NL), Kian Jafari (Vancouver, Canada), Jennifer Benson (St. John’s, NL), Shelley Neville (St. John’s, NL) and Don Taranowski (Toronto, Canada).
Emily has studied yoga and movement with Bernie Clarke, Kate Gillespie, Matt Phippen and Eoin Finn in Canada, the United States, and Bali, Indonesia. She has taught in studios, living rooms, squash courts, parks and even on wharves from coast to coast in Canada and in counties Meath and Cavan.
Emily moved to Ireland with her husband in July 2026. She now calls County Meath home. When she isn’t teaching or practicing, she loves running along the country roads, baking cakes, and spending as much time as possible with her family.
